In the absence of Easter Church Services we will be ringing the Church Bells.
MAUNDY THURSDAY:
Thursday at 8:00pm
On Thursday of Holy Week Jesus gave his followers a new commandment (a Mandatum Novum, hence “Maundy” Thursday) to love one another. He washed their feet and taught them to serve others in the same way. On this Maundy Thursday we remember all who serve our community with love in these difficult days – NHS doctors, nurses and staff, Council workers, volunteers, retail workers and posties, amongst others.
GOOD FRIDAY:
Friday at 3:00pm
On Good Friday Jesus suffered the pain of death and the full weight of the world’s brokenness on the Cross. There he defeated the power of sin and death once and for all and established a New Covenant of love for all people. On this Good Friday we remember all who have experienced and will yet experience death and bereavement, trusting that in their time of sorrow the God who suffers is with them.
EASTER SUNDAY:
Sunday morning at 10:00am
Easter Sunday is the day of Resurrection, of New Life, of New Beginnings. It was on this day that Jesus revealed Love to be stronger than Death when he rose from the tomb. His new life is the sign of hope for us, that we may also find newness of life in the love of God. On this Easter Sunday we will look forward with hope to the coming of a kingdom characterised by love “on earth as it is in heaven.”
