Flaming June is past for another year and the school holidays are almost upon us – but with none of the usual sense of excitement or release for pupils, staff or parents in the current circumstances. While we can be thankful for the easing of restrictions, let us hope and pray that common sense prevails and that people continue to safeguard themselves and others as they begin to enjoy greater freedom.
We continue to be very busy within our Food Bank network and we are looking towards opening up some of our premises (where space permits) in the near future to allow clients to come and collect food in person. This will not only allow a more generous parcel (because they will have access to the ‘help yourself’ shelves) but hopefully we will be able to offer more in the way of counselling and support where required, something that is almost as important as receiving food for some of our clients. But of course we have to take into account all the necessary social distancing and hygiene requirements so there is a lot of planning and reorganising needed to ensure that we can reopen safely. Our website will always be updated with what is open where and when and if a particular food bank is too confined in space to allow safe operating practices, then we are looking still to continue to deliver parcels directly to clients. But, like so many other aspects of life just now, things change almost on a daily basis!
What never changes is our gratitude to you for your ongoing help and support. You are the people who allow us to do what we do and we never take you for granted!
Please find attached our latest wish list. Our stock of toiletries is quite low just now and we will definitely have a demand for these when the food banks re-open.
