Litter picking

LITTER PICKER STATIONS

We’ve set up litter picker station with grabbers inside dustbins at four locations in Kintore:

47 Northern Rd

Deepdale – Top of Forest Road

Tanera – Gaughhill Rd just up from the Torryburn Junction

30 East Park Rd – opposite the play park

ORGANISED LITTER PICKS

We encourage organised litter picks whether they are by two or three friends together or by community groups. Well done to our regular SK litter pick duo Rusty and Sheila, as well as groups including Kintore Scouts and Girls Brigade who have taken part in litter picks around Kintore.

LITTER PICKING FUNDRAISER FOR TEARFUND

In March 2021 a group from Kintore Parish Church did 24 litter picks to raise money for Tearfund. Christine Meyer explains why below:

Climate Change is having a huge impact around the world. Ethiopia is seeing its rainfall decrease dramatically because of climate change causing places to become more desert like, forcing women and children to walk for hours each day to collect water for their families. This means that they are missing out on education and work, leaving them in poverty.

However, Tearfund is working with local partners to install solar powered wells to increase peoples access to clean water and help them adapt to the really tough conditions they have been forced in. Tearfund’s work also involves teaching sustainable farming techniques so that people can continue to make a living despite the extreme whether, and much more.
